Summary: | The present article offers the first edition of a hitherto unpublished Greek fragment from the lost eighth book of Cyril of Alexandria's Commentary on the Gospel of John, transmitted in Codex Pantokratoros 28 (8th century). As the content of the fragment survives also in some Syriac manuscripts, the second part of the article provides a detailed philological comparison of the Greek and Syriac version of the fragment. The third part of the article examines the theological content of the fragment that offers an exegetical interpretation of 2 Cor 5,19. |
