Tout canon est inscrit dans une histoire et y ouvre une perspective, mais la doxa contemporaine tend à en récuser le moment. L’illustre le fait qu’on substitue, sans réflexion spécifique, Bible hébraïque à Ancien Testament, deux ensembles qui ne présentent pas la même disposition - non sans différence symbolique et théologique forte -, ou qu’on substitue Premier et Second à Ancien et Nouveau Testaments, un geste qui ne peut qu’entraîner une modification théologique lourde, le plus souvent non aperçue. Après avoir explicité son accord avec ce que Hans-Christoph Askani met en avant et ouvre en matière de fait canonique, Pierre Gisel marque une divergence, à penser, touchant une vérité en forme de renvoi au Christ ou une vérité en forme de texte. | ||

Though there is no tradition without canon, and no canon without a tradition preceding it and answering for it, even in criticism. Every canon is inscribed in a history and opens up a perspective, but the contemporary doxa tends to refute the moment. This is illustrated by the fact that, without specific reflection, the Old Testament is replaced by the Hebrew Bible, two symbolically and theologically different collections, or the Old and New Testament by First and Second, a process that can only cause great theological change, often unnoticed.
