To illustrate this, first an overview of German plays on Solomon is given. In addition, two dramas written by Lutheran authors and one written by the Jesuits are examined in more detail. Thereby it is also shown that Solomon is a biblical hero, who challenges the writers of the early modern age because of his rich facet.
