| Summary: | En este artículo la autora analiza la virtud de la paciencia en la carta de Santiago, a la luz de la pandemia del Covid19. Encuentra dos términos griegos diferentes y con connotaciones diferentes. Uno de ellos (en su forma nominal, ypomonē, y verbal ypomoneō) entiende la paciencia como una actitud de aguantar, resistir, perseverar en situaciones de sufrimiento; el otro término (makrothymía y makrothymeō) alude a una actitud sabia de no desesperarse, de ser paciente, frente a una realidad en la cual no se puede hacer nada. La autora introduce y concluye la realidad de la pandemia en América Latina, y los criterios que se pueden aplicar a partir del análisis de la paciencia en Santiago. Antes de entrar en el análisis mencionado, la autora escribe sobre la situación de las comunidades de Santiago, a las cuales se les aconseja, entre otras cosas a tener paciencia. In this article the author discusses the virtue of patience on James’s letter, in the light of the Covid19 pandemic. She finds two different Greek terms with different connotations. One of them (in its nominal form, ypomonē and its verbal form ypomoneō) understands patience as an attitude of enduring, resisting, persevering in situations of suffering; the other term (makrothymiaand makrothymē) alludes to a wise attitude of not despairing, of being patient, in the face of a reality in which nothing can be done. The author introduces and concludes her article about the reality of the pandemic in Latin America and the criteria that can be applied from the analysis of patience on James. Before analyzing the patience, the author writes about the situation of the communities of James, who are advised, among other things, to be patient. |
