The present volume is an instance of this ‘rescue work’, other examples being Marion Taylor and Heather Weir's 2007 edited collection Let Her Speak for Herself, and the present editors’ earlier edited volume from 2009, Strangely Familiar: Proto-feminist Interpretations of Patriarchal Texts.
