Sumario:The Early Dynastic period of Sumerian history, from about 2900 to 2340 B.C.E., was the age in southern Mesopotamia of the early city-states. In recent years, large-scale excavations at the site of al-Hiba, the ancient city of Lagash, in southeastern Iraq have added to our knowledge of both the Early Dynastic I phase as well as the historic period of Early Dynastic III B.
