Summary: | The present contribution gives an overview of the expression "Son of Man" in the ancient Jewish writings and in the New Testament. After some philological reflections on the use of the syntagm "son(s) of man" in the most ancient semitic texts, a critical review of the main occurrences of this expression is offered, trying to follow a chronological order, starting with the texts of the Second Temple Judaism up to the specific use that the first Christians made of it in reference to the person of Jesus. |
