| Summary: | This article examines the general understanding of time assumed by the language of the "fullness of time" (Gal 4,4a), first, in its logical implications (1.). Its concrete content (2.-5.) is then worked out on the basis of the sending of the Son (4,4b) and its historical prerequisites: his human birth as a Jew (4,4c) and as one subject to the law (4,4d). The article finally (6.) describes - within the horizon of the entire letter to the Galatians - the new being in Christ and the new theological understanding of God systematically sketched on the basis of Gal 4,4a. |
