Ce récit affirme que Jahvé est le Seigneur de la Vie, et (à l'instar du Livre de Jonas) il souligne que les hommes de Dieu ne doivent pas être préoccupés par leur réputation. Il en ressort qui? être prophète mosaïque signifie obéir aux commandements de Dieu plutôt qu'impressionner le monde en faisant des miracles. Tout comme le Livre de Jonas, le récit recourt à l'ironie. Les vers 11b-12 sont une prédiction, et non pas une narration. The story of Elijah at Horeb, whatever the diversity of sources on which it may well draw, is a unified narrative designed by the author of the 'Elijah Epic' of 1 Kings 17-19. It affirms that YHWH is Lord of Life, and (like the Book of Jonah) it stresses that men of God must not be preoccupied with their reputation. To be a Mosaic prophet turns out to mean harkening to God's commandments rather than cutting an important figure with one's miracles. The story uses irony (like Jonah, again). Vv. 11b-12 are prediction, not narrative. | ||
