To Judas’ objection Jesus answers that she should keep “it” for the day of his burial. In a seminar discussion, several attempts to come to terms with these highly coded features were presented: A proleptic hint at Jesus’ resurrection, a symbol for the gift of the Spirit as promised in the farewell discourses, a presentation of Mary as the exemplary disciple in contrast to the antidisciple Judas. 
520 |a Die Salbungsgeschichte des Johannesevangeliums (Joh 12,1-8) weist gegenüber den synoptischen Parallelen eine charakteristische Gestaltung auf, durch die sie auf der Ebene der Erzählung an unmittelbarer Plausibilität verliert: Maria salbt Jesu Füße und wischt das Salböl sofort wieder mit ihren Haaren ab, und Jesus erwidert auf den Einwand des Judas, sie solle „es“ bis zum Tag seines Begräbnisses bewahren. Im Rahmen einer Seminardiskussion wurden verschiedene Lösungsansätze für diese Übercodierung entwickelt: Ein Vorverweis auf die Auferstehung Jesu, ein Symbol für die nachösterliche Geistbegabung der Jünger, eine Präsentation Marias als der vorbildlichen Jüngerin im Gegensatz zum Anti-Jünger Judas.
