Zusammenfassung:Prayer: Some aspects of the nature and content of Christian prayer with special reference to the Heidelberg Catechism This article briefly describes a few basic aspects of the Reformed doctrine on prayer as represented by the Heidelberg Catechism. The focal point of this view is the conviction that prayer is primarily rooted In God's providential acts towards man and only secondarily in man's dialogical relationship to God. The concrete applicability of this basic tenet is then studied by way of a short analysis of the manner In which the Heidelberg Catechism explains the Lord's Prayer. The approach suggested by this Catechism seems to be able to provide solutions to some present day problems experienced with prayer — problems represented by terms such as "lethargy", "resistance" and "distrust".
