| Summary: | Despite considerable research in recent years relating to the genealogies in the Bible, a satisfactory key to their interpretation and theological meaning has not yet been found. In this article the concept of future expectation is used to shed some new light on the theological interpretation of the genealogical material in Genesis 1-11. The genealogical material provides a different and often neglected perspective on the nature of the ejected future. This future expectation is expressed in recognition of generational continuity that is, it expects a future in human history. |
