Summary: | This article focusses on the meaning of the term >land<, in Genesis' Patriarch's stories. lt analyzes statements of the borders of the land, the autochthonal population and how leaving the land is described. Genesis' texts including the divine promise of the land are compared with the concepts of the land in Pentateuch's different theological approaches. Finally, the article illustrates the promise of the land in refercnc to the creation story: The Torah interprets the giving of the land as fullfillment of an assignement to all nation, but as notalby promise to Israel. |
