Description
Summary:This essay offers a reply from Richard Hays to five reviews of Echoes of Scripture in the Gospels; the reviewers were Walter Moberly, Richard Bauckham, Marianne Meye Thompson, N. T. Wright, and David Ford. Hays's reply addresses questions of methodology and the limits of metalepsis. It also takes up larger theological questions about divine identity Christology and the appropriate hermeneutical approach to the canonical Gospels. A final section briefly identifies several important issues unresolved in the present critical exchange.
