| Summary: | This article demonstrates the higher-than-average pluriformity of the Syriac texts of Susanna in the manuscripts and gives a content-related analysis. The numerous variants and plusses which are formulated differently from manuscript to manuscript point to narratological principles. They hint at a rank growth („Wildwuchs“) of oral re-telling. The fact that these variants are present in the manuscripts gives the interesting opportunity to study the principles of oral and written transmission – not by hypothetical interference, but on the basis of real textual evidence. Die überdurchschnittlich pluriforme Susanna-Überlieferung im syrischen Strang wird anhand der betreffenden Handschriften aufgezeigt und inhaltlich analysiert. In den zahlreichen Erzählvarianten und Erweiterungen, die von Handschrift zu Handschrift unterschiedlich formuliert sind, zeigen sich narrative Gesetzmäßigkeiten. Sie deuten auf einen „Wildwuchs“ mündlichen Weitererzählens hin. Dass diese Varianten hier auch in schriftlicher Form vorliegen, macht die syrische Susanna-Überlieferung zu einem interessanten Fall, um die Gesetzmässigkeiten mündlichen und schriftlichen Tradierens anhand realer Quellen – und nicht nur anhand von hypothetischen Rückschlüssen – zu studieren. |
