Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:This essay draws from Scripture a necessary and radical reform in the Church (particularly in terms of biblical work). The Word is 'useful for life' since it nourishes symbolic imagination. Often sacred texts are read with a fundamentalist approach, and there is a lack of literary criteria and humanistic concern. Literature in today's world has diverse understandings of reality, and biblical work also highlights plurality. What is important is an emancipatory and plural understanding of reality. Due to encounters with the 'other', such understanding leads to an experience of God that is not self-centred. This essay offers criteria for changes in church and in society, and for including the Bible in humanistic studies.
