Description
Summary:In contrast to the mainly allegorical interpretation present in ancient commentators, modern approaches to the Parable of the Good Samaritan prefer a directly ethical reading. In this article, I offer an interpretation of the Parable, which highlights new perspectives about relationship between ethics and religion, touching on important philosophical issues. Within this frame, I focus on two twentieth-century Christocentric readings of this Parable -those of Saint John Paul II and Blessed Álvaro del Portillo-, which allow for an original integration of the ethical and religious points of view, in dialogue with our time's concerns and challenges.
