Description
Summary:The purpose of this study is to seek the reading of Ezra 5-6 from the perspective of religious tolerance by paying attention to the characteristics of religious tolerance in the decision of Darius I concerning the Construction of the Temple. The authors use the Reader Response analysis method in describing the text of Ezra 5-6 by using Dianne Tilman's theory of the characteristics of religious tolerance supported by historical research from researchers of Old Testament texts. The result of the study is that Darius I emerges as a tolerant and persistent leader, consistent in fighting for the religious rights of everyone as experienced by Israelitess in the Old Testament era.
