The classical medieval layout of this bathhouse was only slightly modified during the centuries. Remarkable is the elaborate design of the wasṭānī that still testifies to the outstanding prominence of this central part of the structure. Das Ḥammam al-Ṣafi in Damaskus galt bis vor Kurzem als nicht erhalten und kann als Wiederentdeckung gewertet werden. Die klassisch-mittelalterliche Ausgestaltung des Bades wurde im Laufe der Jahrhunderte kaum verändert. Herausragend sind der Grundriss und die reich variierten Kuppelkonstruktionen des wasṭānī, welche von der einst sorgfältigen Planung des zentralen Bereiches zeugen. مكن اعتبار حمام الصفي في دمشق اكتشافا جديدا بعد أن ساد الاعتقاد حتى عهد قريب بأنه قد زال. ولم يكن تصميم الحمام بالنمط الكلاسيكي أو العائد للقرون الوسطى قد غُيّر إلا قليلا خلال القرون الماضية. ويلفت النظر كل من مسقط الوسطاني وقبابه بتصاميمها المتنوعة جدا والتي ما زالت تشهد على التخطيط المتقن لهذا القسم المركزي من الحمام. |
