Summary:The problem of moral realism does not seem to play a major role in the Hebrew Bible. However, some texts like Genesis 18 and others do show that this problem was a pressing one for at least some Old Testament writers, and that it was coped with through arguing with God. Taking Genesis 18 as an exemplary case, this article displays the conditions for the possibility of moral realism in the Hebrew Bible as well as some threads of its unfolding.
