| Summary: | "Wisdom Literature" is closely associated to the library of the Ketuvim in the Hebraic tradition. However, its intention is different as the title makes clear. What is thus the antiquity of such a denomination and what connections do these so-called sapiential books entertain with the collection of the Ketuvim? These are the questions this contribution wishes to deal with. The aim is to enquire into the history and emergence of these books and their collections, to reflect upon their cultural and intellectual possible influences and finally to give due attention to the social and political crisis that made the Hellenistic period in Judea and abroad so painful and yet so fruitful that the concept of cosmopolitanism may be used undeniably in the definition of these new collections. |
