An affinity between these traditions was already noted by Jewish-Hellenistic authors like Artapanus and Philo of Alexandria who spoke of a Moses instructed in Egyptian philosophy (that was, priestly lore and ideology). The book of Leviticus, in particular, offers many thematic and structural parallels to the Egyptian ritual literature.
