Summary: | In his publication of MasDeut, Shemaryahu Talmon argues that the text that is transmitted in this manuscript is identical to the Masoretic Text. The present contribution, in particular focusing on Deut 34,6, argues that this view should be nuanced. A close look at fragment c of MasDeut reveals that a cautionary footnote should be added to the transcription of the first word of Deut 34,6 (ויקבר), which may in turn have some consequences for the text-critical apparatus of the textual editions of Deuteronomy, as well as for the text-critical evaluation of the variant reading of this verse. |
