Description
Summary:Whereas almost all authors agree on the date of the Epistula apostolorum (beginning of the second half of the second century), they differ largely on the origin of this text which has been preserved in its integrity only in Ethiopic. Comparing the account of the Easter celebration in chapters 15 to 18 with the Anaphora of the apostles Addai and Mari (3rd c.) which originates in the region of Edessa, this study enumerates not a few common theological and literary features and concludes that both texts must have been produced in the same context and region. The Epistula apostolorum might therefore stem from Syria, more precisely from Osrhoene.
