Description
Summary:In the first section objections are raised against current short-comings in exegetical methods: exaggerated "demythologisation", the uncertain, hypothetical results of the historical-critical method which lead to hypothetical sources and "texts before the written text" of the Bible, the shortcomings of "synchronic" analyses which lose touch with historicity and events testified to by the text, the shortcomings of the pastoral and catechetical use of those results, the needs of biblical pastoral practice in many non-North Atlantic Churches. The second part puts forward a serious and continuous development of the "classical" methods of exegesis, with the help of the developments in related literary sciences, especially in "pragmatic linguistics". The basic view of the interpretation of the Bible should not be influenced by preoccupations with past "historicism", but by recent communication models, by theories of comprehension and by the phenomenology of language. In the third part a concrete example is proposed, the pragma-linguistic "model of action", as a further metodological step in exegetical interpretation with many conseguences for serious exegetical work and for the pastoral use of the Bible.
