Many modern translations follow the emendation first suggested by Bishop Robert Lowth and read "your Builder" in place of "your sons." One promising approach is to examine the cultural context of marriage in the postexilic period, recognizing in Isa 62:5 (in light of LXX) allusions to the stages of an ancient marriage. |
