The purpose of the present article which deals with Wigbod’s commentary on the Gospels is threefold: (1.) The relation between the three known complete manuscripts of the work is discussed, a stemma is provided. (2.) It is argued that the commentary, as we have it, was left unfinished by the author (may be because of Wigbod’s death). (3.) It is demonstrated that a hitherto neglected entry in a medieval booklist coming from 12th century Saint-Vaast, Arras bears testimony to the presence of a manuscript of the commentary: This manuscript was either a close relative to Bruxelles, Bibl. roy. 8654-72, or it is to be identified with it. |
