Dans le récit de la christophanie pascale (Jn 20,24-29), le Thomas johannique apparaît comme un nouveau Janus, jouant deux rôles, à la charnière entre les disciples de la première heure et les générations successives. The Fourth Gospel shows a special interest in the apostle Thomas. He is known as one of the Twelve, and his name is three times explained as ho legomenos didumos. The word didumos is often interpreted as meaning "twin". In the present article, another understanding is suggested: "having a double meaning". In the account of the paschal Christophany (Jn 20: 24-29), the Johannine Thomas appears as a new Janus, playing two roles, as a hinge between the first disciples and the subsequent generations. |
