Summary: | The Aramaic Levi Document (Visions of Levi) is a priestly composition with a didactic thrust that includes into the priestly curriculum of studies metrological knowledge inspired by the schooling methods of the Babylonian scribes. The Aramaic Astronomical Book from Qumran witnesses that the arithmetical knowledge of fraction numbers is used for astronomical calculation. The article argues that the AAB belongs to the same type of school literature, together with the Visions of Levi, Admonitions of Qahat and Visions of Amram. |
