Description
Summary:The new chronology is a challenge not only for Egyptology but also for biblical research of the Old Testament. Here I refer in particular to the history of the Old Testament and also to the history of literature and hermeneutics. I am sure that the time for real and scientific research of the holy book has arrived but it must also be mentioned that it does not decrease the authority of the Bible, by making references and sendings to the irresistible hypothesis of th ebiblical critics nor it tries the consolidation of this authority with the help of fundamental currents admitting the authenticity and the eternal truth of the Bible itself by adapting to the historical and archaelogical realities. The Old Testament is not simply a literary achievement which passes for a national epic with a number of unhistorical legends and myths, but a devoted literary and contemporary work which represents the history of God’s people and through it the history of God and of the people of Israel. The place of Theology in the twentieth century is to regain the authority which results from the authenticity of the Holy Book.
