Summary: | Since history is interpretation, it is argued that psychological insights can facilitate the historical understanding of Jesus. However, emphasis should not so much be laid on a psychoanalytical interpretation of Jesus' personality, but it should rather be probed whether the 'effect' which Jesus had on his followers could be explained psychologically. In this regard attention is paid to psychotherapy and the processes of modelling and internalisation. |
