Summary: | The best method of inquiry into the meaning of the ruach Yahweh to Israel's faith seems to start by listening to the earliest historical narratives on the operation of the Spirit, not by studying the word ruach itself. After getting acquainted with its activities, it will be important to examine the word ruach in its different shades of meaning. For this we shall first of all have to turn to the pre-exilic historical books, where on some pages we find a great deal of traditional material on the ruach, to which we must add a number of utterances and data to be found in pre-exilic prophets, including Ezekiel. |
