| Summary: | The article highlights the importance of studying the economic dimension of biblical texts for their understanding and, especially, hermeneutic updating of the message conveyed by the texts, in the face of the challenges presented by Pope Francis in the face of an economy that generates death. To achieve this goal, the article differentiates economics from chrematistics and the briefly approaches four texts of the Old Testament as examples. It concludes by presenting some guidelines that can contribute to the bible-economy relationship, based on the experiences of Latin American peasants. O artigo sublinha a importância de estudar a dimensão econômica dos textos bíblicos para sua compreensão e, especialmente, atualização hermenêutica da mensagem transmitida pelos textos, face aos desafios apresentados pelo Papa Francisco diante de uma economia que gera morte. Para alcançar esse objetivo, o artigo diferencia economia de crematística e, depois, aborda de maneira sucinta e como exemplos, quatro textos do Primeiro Testamento. Conclui apresentando algumas pautas que podem contribuir na relação Bíblia-economia, a partir das experiências dos camponeses e das camponesas latino-americanas. |
