| Summary: | Baptisteries-martyria from Syria Descriptive catalogue of 25 Syrian baptisteries, mainly located in the Limestone Massif, classified according to the position occupied by the font within the ecclesial complex. One may distinguish seven categories of baptisteries, from the mere equipped sacristies to the independent buildings and monumental baptisteries associated with pilgrimage churches. However, the presence of reliquaries in all of them sheds light on the close relation established in proto-byzantine Syria between the devices of baptism and the cult of holy men and martyrs. Catalogue raisonné de 25 baptistères syriens, principalement issus du Massif calcaire, classés selon la position occupée par la cuve au sein du complexe ecclésial. Sept types de baptistères peuvent être ainsi distingués, depuis les simples sacristies aménagées jusqu’aux édifices indépendants et aux baptistères monumentaux associés à des églises de pèlerinage. Dans tous ces cas cependant, la présence de reliquaires éclaire l’étroite relation établie, en Syrie protobyzantine, entre les dispositifs du baptême et le culte des athlètes et des martyrs. معموديات الشهداء في سوريافهرسٌ وصفي لخمسة وعشرين معمودية سورية اكتشف معظمها في الكتلة الكلسية، مصنفة حسب الموقع الذي كان يشغله جرن التعميد داخل المبنى الكنسي. ويتميز فيها سبعة أنماط معمارية، ما بين مرافق بسيطة إلى مباني مستقلة ومعموديات صرحية مرتبطة بكنائس الحج، ويسلط وجود وعاء الذخائر في كل منها على العلاقة الوثيقة التي نشأت في سوريا خلال فترة فجرالمسيحية بين تجهيزات العمادة وطقس الأبطال القديسين والشهداء. |
