Description
Summary:Using the example of the question of women’s participation in ordained church office the article describes the difficulty of distinguishing between “ius divinum” (divine law) and “ius humanum” (human law). It is always people with own interests who make such a differentiation. What is needed is an agreement on criteria that make it possible to determine God’s law in human judgements. The current context of these considerations can be found in the global reform processes of the Roman Catholic Church, which in Germany are concretized by the “Synodal Path”. It becomes clear that regarding the thematic challenge of women’s ordination questions must be asked about the biblical concept of apostolicity as well as the connection between the representation of Christ and church office. One source of insight of “ius divinum” is “experience” (“via empirica”), which regarding the participation also of women in the ordained office makes one feel confident in view of the undisputedly effective charisms that are held in high esteem.
