Summary: | In his vision of a future temple (cf. Ezek. 40–42), the prophet Ezekiel mentions, among other things, a structure to which he simply applies the term binjān (building, edifice) (cf. Ezek. 41:12–15b). It is generally assumed to be a massive building dominating the western part of the temple area. This article presents a different interpretation, arguing that the term binjān refers to the chambers, walls and open spaces mentioned in Ezek. 41,5–11, that surround the actual temple house. |
