Description
Summary:While the COVID pandemic of 2020 wreaked dramatic loss upon many throughout the world, it also generated creative approaches to worship, fellowship, and education. Being forced to unplug from life as we know it, the pandemic also allowed some people to experience God’s presence anew in the created order. This renewed awareness enlightens a reading of Psalm 98, in which the Psalmist invites all of creation to join in singing praises to celebrate the reign of God. Reading this Psalm in light of the pandemic and the current environmental crisis reminds us to encourage all nature to sing now. We do so by giving our deliberate attention, respect, and care to all of God’s creation.
