Description
Summary:The subject of the study, ancient Phaselis, is located within the borders of the Kemer district of Antalya province in Türkiye. Located on the west coast of the Gulf of Pamphylia, Phaselis had geopolitical and geostrategic importance in the Mediterranean region during the Classical and Hellenistic Periods. Because of its importance, underwater surveys of the harbour were carried out in Phaselis in 2012–23. During this research, many new finds and artefacts were identified in the South Harbour Area. Apart from the amphorae found under water, which are of great importance for dating the harbour’s period of activity, a breakwater structure, called the Twin Breakwater, was also found. Based on these new findings, this study aims to determine the phases of use of the Phaselis South Harbour Area.
