| Riepilogo: | The line Psalm 8:2c is written in Hebrew which is not according to grammatical rules. The presence of the imperative tenāh, ‘give’, in the subordinate clause is a syntactical anomaly. Already the Ancient Versions have tried to overcome this problem by rendering with a well running sentence. Modern scholarship has tried to repair the anomaly in a variety of ways. A consensus, however, has not been reached. I suggest that the anomaly is intentional and could best be rendered with a clause in the receiving language which is not according to grammatical rules. |
