Summary:This article deals with the diversity of scholarly opinion about the origins of the book of Lamentations. As a result there is also uncertainty about the problem that prompted the writing of the book and to which it seeks to offer a solution. , This question is examined from a social-anthropological perspective within the framework of Clifford Geertz' s view of religion and Walter Brueggeman's theory on the trajectories in the Israelite literature. , The conclusion drawn from this study is that Lamentations 1 derives from the trajectory of the theology of zion.
