| Summary: | The usual division of Psalm 96 into two sections (1-6 and 7-13) is discussed. On the grounds of a parallel but inverse repetition of themes, a segmentation of Psalm 96 into three parts, each with two units, is proposed (1-3 + 4-6; 7-9 + 10; ll-13a + 13bcd). The thematic correspondence between Psalm 95 and Psalm 96 is also discussed and it is argued that a symmetric arrangement of themes in the two psalms can be detected. |
