Description
Summary:This essay argues that spatial awareness constitutes an essential element in the process of understanding the world from which the Bible emerged and the world reflected in and referred to in the Bible. By defining the concept of spatial awareness and by referring to some notions of spatial awareness within the Bible a few prospects of implementing a better understanding of spatial awareness in Biblical Studies are outlined, with reference to the theological and ethical issues involved. As epistemological frame the aspect of longue duree developed by the Annales School is considered to be of fundamental significance.
