| Summary: | Daniel 1 as wisdom literature : confirmation of the retribution dogma Daniel 1 is not historiography. The tale's themes and motives disclose that it has more affinity with wisdom literature than with real history. In this article a semiotic analysis of Daniel 1 is done. The results of the analysis show that the Daniel tales are part of the wisdom literature, the same as the Joseph and Esther tales. The author of Daniel 1 also tells his story in terms of one of the most important themes of wisdom literature, the dogma of retribution, indicating that his tale should be understood as wisdom. |
