| Summary: | This dictionary aims at assisting readers who encounter the OT indirectly, that is, through its reception in literature, music or visual arts. Many of them are no longer familiar with the texts of the OT and therefore unable to understand and appreciate motifs and allusions to these texts. The editors note in the preface: Damit dieses Buch eine Brücke schlagen kann, mussten sich die Autorinnen und Autoren der einzelnen Artikel auf eine ungewohnte Perspektive einlassen. Sie, die als Exegeten der biblischen Texte oder als Altorientalisten, Althistoriker oder ÄgyptoIogen mit den Texten vertraut sind, mussten sich in die Lage derjenigen versetzen, denen diese Texte wenig oder nichts bedeuten. Die Autorinnen und Autoren haben diese Aufgabe in unterschiedlicher Weise gelöst, orientiert an der durch das Wörterbuch vorgegebenen Fragerichtung. Entstanden ist dabei eine Reihe von Miniaturen zum AT, die auch für Fachexegeten noch manches Interessante bereithalten dürfte . |
