Summary: | The subtitle qualifies the title, restricting this excellent doctoral dissertation from the Bochum Roman Catholic faculty to the three short passages in Mark 8, 9, and 10. These passion and resurrection predictions alone do not lead to a full discussion of Mark's interpretation of Jesus’ death, even when enlarged by a full discussion of 10:45 and 14:24, as here. That would require attention to more material, from the possible echo of the akedah at the baptism of Jesus to the tearing of the veil at his death. |
